Established in 2013, Daisy Lane Floral Design founder Emily is an award winning wedding and event florist creating bespoke, yet elegant bouquets and arrangements. Her love of flowers became very clear when she was helping her parent's decorate their pub for Mothering Sunday and from then on Emily's attention to detail and her creativity is truly admirable.
Tell us a little bit about you and your wedding florist business?
I started Daisy Lane Floral Design around 8 years ago. I have a beautiful studio based in Clevedon and I specialise in wedding and event flowers across Bristol, Bath, Gloucestershire and The Cotswolds. My style is soft and romantic with a whimsical feel. Wherever possible, I use locally grown, seasonal blooms, working closely with my couples to select the very best flowers for their wedding day. You will often find me in my studio prepping for weddings with my trusty florist dog Kevin by my side!
What do you love most about being a florist?
I absolutely love my job. I love chatting to my couples about their wedding and finding out how I can help them achieve the floral look they would like for their day. Each wedding is so different and I enjoy the variety it brings as wedding flowers are such a personal choice and each one of my couples have different requirements. I also adore the changing seasons and the different flower varieties it brings such as fragrant narcissus in the spring, beautiful sweet peas in the summer and then the rich coloured berries in the winter!
What are your top tips to couples that are looking for a florist perfect for them?
When it comes to choosing your florist it is important that you both share the same vision and they advise you accordingly. Always take a look at their portfolio/social media and examples of their previous work to get a real feel of what they can create for you. Asking lots of questions as well when you meet with your florist is a great way of finding out if they are the right one for you. For example, is there a minimum spend? Does the quote include travel costs, vessel hire etc? Set up/clear down of arrangements? You should feel entirely relaxed and comfortable with your florist and trust them completely.
Which wedding was your favourite and why?
Oh I couldn’t choose! I love working on all my weddings as they are all so unique. There is always something special though when I create the flowers for a family member or close friend as it is such an honour to be involved with creating their dream flowers and then also normally attending the wedding after the morning of setting up their designs.
Are there any trends you would like to see for 2021?
I love creating larger installations so I would definitely love to create more of those designs. Outdoor ceremonies are definitely something I am seeing my couples opt for too with beautiful wild meadow arrangements lining the aisle with a full floral archway as the focal point.
